With the 2nd Special Session over, news has been slow these past few weeks. The impeachment trial of Ken Paxton is underway with key developments happing now including:
- Former chief of staff says AG initially lied about affair that eventually hurt office morale
- Paxton didn’t trust law enforcement after securities fraud indictment, whistleblower testifies
- Whistleblower says Paxton donor acted like he was the “real boss” of AG’s office
- Senators could start deliberating Paxton’s fate this week
- Prosecutors portray Paxton as obsessed while defense says he was betrayed
Houston Texas will host the Republican Nation Committee in 2028! Matt Rinaldi, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas said “We are proud to welcome the Republican National Committee and Republican delegates from across the country to the most important and largest red state in the nation! The 2028 election and convention will be pivotal to ensure Republicans control the Presidency, Congress, and deliver on conservative policy.”
The Governor still has many priorities so expect more special sessions soon. Below are the priorities for special sessions moving forward.
- Provide more than $5.1 billion to secure the border and fund the Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the border wall
- End COVID restrictions and mandates
- Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations
- Prosecute fentanyl deaths as murder
- Protect women’s sports and female collegiate athletes
- Focus community colleges on preparing Texas students for high skill careers
- Increase electric power generation to secure the Texas power grid
- Hold rogue district attorneys accountable
- Protect children from life-altering gender mutilation
- Ban illegal DEI hiring practices in our colleges and universities
- Add $1.4 billion to make Texas schools safer
- Require armed security at all schools
- Provide access to mental healthcare for students at all schools
- Require regular safety checks of school buildings
