Merrie Schmidt

I was raised in a family of eight in California. My father was the Minister at Folsom Prison and

My mother was an RN. Steve and I have been married 45 years. Two of our three adult children,

along with their spouses and children, escaped to Texas with us in 2021.

I have been employed in numerous jobs since the age of 16, including Day Care so I could be at home when our children were young. Professionally I have been in Pension administration, owner/operator of a pizza restaurant, and sales of upscale kitchen and bath fixtures and custom countertops.

My first volunteering was to become a Big Sister in my teens. I have volunteered and served on Boards in Project RIDE (horseback therapy), Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, Sacramento Kings NBA Women’s Organization, Elk Grove Theatre Company and numerous school fundraisers. My most profound experience was quitting a payroll company to travel to New Orleans with SBA Disaster Relief following Katrina. When I retired seven years ago, I became a CASA. Here in New Braunfels, I have become an election clerk and volunteer with NB Conservatives and Chicktime.

I am looking forward to working with members as we Do Good Works in our community.
