Joyce grew up in the small town of Dimmitt in the Texas Panhandle. The youngest of 6 kids growing up on a large farm and cattle ranch, she learned the value of hard work, integrity, and conservative values at an early age that have stayed with her throughout her life.
Joyce’s first involvement in politics began at age 7 in 1974 stuffing envelopes for hometown candidate Kent Hance’s (successful) run for the Texas State Senate. She was immediately hooked on the excitement of campaigns and political discussion and has been involved in almost every election since then. This involvement has given Joyce the wonderful opportunity to develop lasting relationships with members of the local, state, and national political community.
After graduating from Texas Tech University in 1990, she married and moved around the country with her husband who is a 22-year Air Force Veteran pilot. They have two adult daughters, one granddaughter, and 1 grand dog: Jennifer (and partner Justin) live in San Antonio with daughter Kwin, and Allyson who lives in Rockwall.
Joyce currently serves as the District Director for State Senator Donna Campbell, MD, SD 25, who represents 1.1 million constituents in 7 counties. Prior to joining the Senator’s staff, she served as District Director for (former) State Representative Kyle, HD 73; was the Community Relations Coordinator for CASA of Central Texas; managed Senator Campbell’s 2018 reelection campaign; and worked for the Salvation Army of New Braunfels as their Financial Administrator. She is a former appointee of Governor Abbott to two State Boards and co-founder of The Constitutionalist Foundation with District Judge Stephanie Bascon.
Joyce landed in New Braunfels in early 2001 and has been actively involved from the start. She’s served on numerous nonprofit boards in leadership positions, was President of New Braunfels Republican Women for 4 years (now NB Conservatives), President of the Rotary Club of New Braunfels (now serving as Assistant Governor to Rotary District 5840), serves as the Scholarship Chair for the 100 Club of Comal County, and maintains a committed involvement to the Veteran community in New Braunfels and surrounding towns. Joyce is a member of the Bethel Independent Methodist Church.
